Becoming Catholic and Returning to Your Catholic Faith
Congratulations! Yes, congratulations. You have taken a wonderful leap of faith in making the choice to learn more about strengthening your relationship with God and the church.
In our church we have an RCIA process for those who are not only wanting or inquiring about becoming Catholic, but also those who want to return to their Catholic faith.
What is the RCIA process?
Anyone seeking information about the Catholic faith is encouraged to attend RCIA sessions, casual meetings with our parish priest. The RCIA sessions give you uninterrupted time to explore your intentions and continue to discern God’s call.
I have already been baptized Catholic but have not received any other of the Sacraments (Holy Communion, Confirmation, etc.) Can I attend these sessions?
Yes! Many of our RCIA candidates have been baptized. RCIA classes will build upon your foundation as a baptized Christian. Preparing for Holy Communion and of Confirmation is part of the process.
Do I need a sponsor?
Our faith journey becomes so much more meaningful when we have someone to share it with, just as Jesus and his disciples. Once you determine you wish to celebrate the sacraments and formally entering the Catholic Church you will be asked to select a sponsor or one can be appointed for you from our St. Jude family.
What are the costs involved?
It is completely free.
How do I sign up or learn more?
You are welcome to contact Father John Ledford or the parish office via this website or by phone (304-845-2646). We would love to hear from you.
What you are is God’s gift to you. What you make of yourself… is your gift to God!
